Writer's Block: Just another manic Monday

Do you look forward to returning to work/school on Mondays or do you live for the weekend? What do you enjoy most about weekends? What do you dread most about school and/or work?

View 282 Answers

If this question was asked around last year September to June, I would have answer 'yes' that I looked forward to Mondays because it was a non-college day and have a lie in or go out to do shopping.

Weekends are usually short. I do live for them though. What I enjoy about the weekends are sleeping late and relaxing from the stresses of college.

I dread about college the most is homework. I don't really like doing them anymore, tbh.

That's all

And Phew!

No, I haven't finished my homework and I know I'm going to fail my second year. It's not due to the recent death of my aunt (partly it was at first) but maybe I'm getting bored of media... As much as enjoy it, my mum still says it's a 'Mickey Mouse course' or a 'crappy course' - supportive eh? Also I was thinking my Paid Account renewal thing. It's all sorted now. So yeah.

Meme time!

Reply to this post by yelling "Words!" and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

notquitedead gave me five words. And like clearbell, I was given 'BriWi' and 'Pink Floyd' second time round! I am not lazy by copying and pasting the reasons, instead it's all been changed due to recent purposes.

1. Brian Williams - So I have the customised mood theme which took months to make, the birthday present layout which was made by the wonderful virulencia, and have a fangirl thing about him which makes me laugh sometimes and smile. His humour, talent and skill makes Brian William what he is... A very good anchorman, blogger and honest gentleman.

2. Pink Floyd - Expect no imitations. Pink Floyd are my favourite rock band. I cannot say ever because I currently in love with Queen and Led Zeppelin, but Pink Floyd were unique in their own way and their albums are like a story that flow perfectly. Although I haven't been listening to them endlessly these days I will always like their albums Animals and Wish You Were Here. They are both albums with clear concepts - a storyline and a point to make across. I will highly recommend a new Pink Floyd fan to listen to Dark Side of The Moon because that was their first album I bought which was early this year.

3. Journalism - I haven't always been good academically at school especially with maths, English and science. As the years gone by I have improved with my use of language and punctuation. Guilty as charged, my use of grammar isn't always perfect and never will be. I enjoy writing scripts, plays and stories. Journalistic writing is something that interests me. My highest point of this year was doing a magazine article for my fictional magazine. Doing a column page was something that made me proud because I'm very good with keeping up with the news and for me journalism is the right path for me to go in the future. However, I'm shy and introverted and journalists have to meet deadlines and go out to events. I'm usually not comfortable at those but I could work on breaking out of my shyness shell.

4. Homework - it's sucks, it's a time waster, there's no point of it, tbh. That comment wasn't influenced by my dad but children do work at school, home is a place for relaxation.

5. Well-rounded - Ok... Not exactly the prettiest thing to look at. Some nasty people may accuse me of being anorexic and skinny... I'm not in any way a sex symbol. That's all

That's all

Homework Shouldn't Be This Hard...

I'm already behind with one piece of homework and I do not want to get an extension on it because it wouldn't happen or something. Anyway, pretty much my Halloween for celebrated around Miss B's house (more on that on another post), and doing my homework since yesterday evening...

Techinally I haven't been to bed since yesterday morning at 3am. What is wrong with me?

Plus, I'm hungry.

That's all

Your Writes Of Creativity

WikiHow, the Wikipedia of advise, is the best thing ever on the internets. I highly recommend it to you and anyone and everyone. I initially wanted to search on tips on photography until I saw this on 'Writing Nests' on the Featured Articles section.

I find it hard to write these days, but I'm good at ideas for my story or anything in general. Right now, I have a character related to the alleged killer, who has a mentally ill daughter. The problem is that this character isn't the main character, just an additional one but I do not want to confuse my readers. Not the story turning into a complicated soap opera, and I'm looking at you Eastenders and Hollyoaks.

Writing space can be a problem, or any type of space to be spectific. At college, quiet rooms are unlikely except for the library and the computer room in The Village whereas in the main building, the so-called quiet room next to the canteen can be very noisy depending on what day and time it is.

The thing is that I would like peace and quiet, but sometimes if I'm in a extremely quiet place I want to leave straight away. Fortunately in the library in Leytonstone is very quiet and I did manage to stay for a long time, maybe because people aren't moving around loudly. On the other hand, I love music and my iPod is literally my baby -- people just don't want to hear music blasting through the headphones and music helps me focus on my work but I do have a habit of changing songs frequently. Before you ask, I made several playlists but stuck on 'recently played' and 'recently added'. I love observing and I'm quite observant according to a few people. I haven't really sat down for ages to write some bits in McDonalds because I think people would like to sit down and eat their food, so I leave immediately.

Home maybe good. Mum is always telling me something, or nagging me. Dad is often out, however this week he's painting.

I'll think of something.

That's all

1. I'm so busy with college work this week; I have a presentation to do on Friday on my chosen photographer; I have to hand in my work to Zaf also on Friday, although I'm far from finishing so I might focus on that tomorrow during lunch break. I know, I don't want to slack but somehow I don't want to fall behind. And I realised that there's no script for the documentary on the illu... Forget it. Hopefully the group leader may have got that sorter? No?

2. I'm listening to Led Zeppelin all day and everyday at this rate. Mothership is a good album and a nice beginner's guide for anyone who is new to Zep. I much rather buy every single album of the band's, like I would like to do with Queen but I'm not sure... Is it worth it?

3. Next week is half term. That's good. I would like to go places around London and some photographs!

That's all

Uncomfortably Numb

<lj-embed id="49" />
I'm just scared of needles... I was meant to have my cervical cancer jab today, but after coming in and out of the old library in the main building, I now have to get the jab done at the clinic on the 3rd November.

I'm scared of needles. I'm scared of looking at them. I know an injection is just a few seconds but I was just crying; full of anxiety, all over the place.

'Comfortably Numb' describes pain and feeling. Actually, Roger Waters (the lead singer) described his experiences through this song by being injected by tranquillzers for stomach cramps. I know I don't have cramps but at least I and probably everyone else can empathise with a situation like that.

That's all

100 Books In 365 Days

I bought two photo books today; a Pink Floyd book which has the best photos of the band during the career, concert posters, tickets, newspaper clippings and tour programmes. And a Led Zeppelin rare photo book with the band in America and just chilling out really...

I have been thinking about a lot of things lately or recently. I was thinking of reading a hundred books in one year. It may sound possible but I think I won't be able to juggle college and reading at the same time, especially if that damn coursework is going to take over my life for another year.

I might start reading the King Of Torts again soon. Love John Grisham. And I may read Twilight... I'm no fan of the films or books, I just want to avoid turning into a Robert Pattinson fangirl overnight. BriWi is fine with me lol.

That's all

Since my parents disapprove me of buying UGGs because they are expensive (and would trying to persuade them they can keep me warm and I'm willing to pay for them myself), they may approve of me buying these boots! I love them! Only problem is that the biggest size is 8 and I'm a size 9. Would it be a good idea for me to squeeze into them? My Nikes are size 8 and I had them for six years. They still fit me.

2. So I'm doing a documentary at college with a group on illuminati, Satanic messages in songs, backmasked songs and 2Pac being alive. Not my ideas but they are the group leader's. I did question him on proving if 2Pac's really alive and asked him to watch/listen to 'Stairway To Heaven' being played backwards on YouTube.

3. My mum labels me 'boring' if I'm not hip or trendy like 'everybody else' or not like Uncle Pedge's daughters. However yesterday was different it was on my musical tastes. This all started from watching Come Dine With Me with a contestant who's a veggie and plays the ukulele and my mum saying: 'Boring! Boring!'

That's all
Another Queen Song I Love To Bits!

<lj-embed id="46" />
This song was written by Freddie Mercury which was dedicated to his girlfriend Mary Austin of six years or so. When they broke up, they remained friends until Freddie died. He said: "All my lovers asked me why they couldn't replace Mary, but it's simply impossible. The only friend I've got is Mary and I don't want anybody else. To me, she was my common-law wife. To me, it was a marriage. We believe in each other, that's enough for me."

You can still look at pictures of them and think how cute!

That's all

Chris Rock has a new documentary out called 'Good Hair' which explores black hair.
Sixty-Eighth BriWi Post Of 2009

I'm a little jealous from reading this:

My wife and I had a weekend that resembled a MasterCard commercial. It wasn't easy, but it was worth it, and I can now die happily: We saw Springsteen on Friday night and U2 on Saturday night. I can hear about 10 percent less than last week...an indicator that I had a really good time.

Forgive me the short post, but I'm trying to focus my meager concentration on the broadcast tonight. We hope you can join us.

Source

One word: fanboy.

That's all
About Facebook

I don't normally go on Facebook, but a few minutes ago I received a message alert with someone asking that if I was 'Jannine Smith from Reading U 1998'. 'U' must be university then. The problem is in 1998 I was 7 and I was still in primary school. Anyway I resolved the issue by replying back stating that I'm not the 'Jannine Smith' the person was looking for.

Well, this entry brings back some useful memories then...

That's all
A Piece Of Pizza

Pizza Hut has topped a new Pizza League of Shame for having the fattiest, smallest and least tasty dishes on the High Street.

Food experts from the Good Food Guide have drawn up a list of the country's best and worst margheritas after visiting six chain restaurants.

The reviewers discovered that the lowest in fat - from Pizza Express - also scored the highest for taste.

Consumer magazine Which? sent reviewers to examine pizzas at Pizza Hut, Pizza Express, Zizzi, Prezzo, Ask and Frankie & Benny's.

All six dishes were rated "red" according to the Government traffic light system for saturated fat and salt.

Pizza Hut pizzas were the smallest on average but also the highest in total fat.

They contained 70% of a woman's daily recommended maximum amount of saturated fat.

The pizza at Zizzi had the highest level of salt, and at Prezzo the highest level of saturated fat.

On average, all the pizzas contained more than half of an adult's recommended daily maximum amount of salt.

Pizza Hut and Frankie & Benny's scored the lowest for pizza taste and quality and restaurant experience - 11/45.

The reviewers said Pizza Hut was "best avoided".

Pizza Express came top for taste - 30.5 out of 45 - earning praise for "flavoursome pizzas with good quality, well-balanced ingredients".

They were followed by Ask which scored 27 out of 45.

Zizzi came a close third with 26.5, and Prezzo scored 25.5.

Editor of Which? Martyn Hocking said: "Some of the chains we've investigated are serving meals that are so high in fat and salt - and in some cases, so unappetising - that they're taking the pizza."

Meanwhile another Which? feature reveals that children who eat at fast food chains can consume nearly half their recommended daily calories in one sitting.

Youngsters who went to KFC ate two-thirds of their guideline maximum daily salt intake in one meal.

Children aged between 11 and 14 had half the recommended amount of sugar at McDonald's and Burger King.
Source

I haven't eaten a pizza for a quite while, but I'm surprised that Pizza Hut is topped for having the 'fattiest, smallest and least tasty dishes'. However in retrospect, when I was in the Pizza Hut in Thorpe Park with Miss B, we didn't exactly enjoy our meals; the pizza was... tasteless, perhaps? And the fizzy drinks were rather too sweet for our likings.

Pizza Express has praise. I never ate at Pizza Express is it any good?

I ate at Zizzi's once in Earl's Court, that is where my love for squid began. I loved eating something diferent for once.

F-List what is your favourite fast food place to eat? And what is your least favourite? I'm beginning to respect McDonald's again, and Burger King - haven't eaten there for years.

That's all

The Funeral

The funeral yesterday was very emotional. I saw my cousins, aunts and uncles in tears. For me that was weird because I am not used to seeing them in a state like that, but it was all too real. My aunty is gone.

My mum's two closet friends came to the funeral where it was held in a church. I haven't attended a church service for years, and I'm not too sure if my aunt did. We sang hymns, and my mum and my Aunty Camilla read Psalm 23 which I recognise from the song 'Sheep' by Pink Floyd. My cousins read a poem, although I didn't have anything on me to say, I quickly mentioned that I have a song that I love so much by Pink Floyd - and said 'Wish Aunty Loretta Was Here'. Her son, Ian talked about her, sharing his memories about her.

Today is my day off of college, I think this day will give me a chance to gather my thoughts and relax. I return back to college on Wednesday, hopefully things will be fine.

That's all

P.S: The funeral program had pictures of a much younger Aunty Loretta (now I found out it's 'Lauretta' - still I will spell her the same as I did before) with her partner and sons. I think Shaun has a splitting image of his mother. This death has affected them badly as well as our family.

Words Meme

Reply to this post by yelling "Words!" and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

The words that clearbell gave me;

1. BriWi - The most articulate man I have seen on television. He's a funny spirit with a good big heart, and handsome too. I haven't done any BriWi posts frequently as I use to, but I still love him for his talents.

2. Pink Floyd - At first I only knew their iconic 'Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2' song but I know plenty of good songs by Floyd now. They are creative and original in their own right. I enjoy their concept albums and Roger Waters lyric writing. Unlike music of today, Pink Floyd weren't afraid of experimenting with different types of instruments and using sound effects. I have to listen to them at least everyday.

3. England - There are many places that I haven't visited in my own country yet. I love my country because there are many places which seem so fascinating to me such as the beautiful countryside, Cambridge and Sussex.

4. Fashion - I love fashion. I don't like following the latest trends though. I'm more of my own person and follow my own trends, or be influenced by fashion of the 70s with a twist of my own. I don't buy as many clothes as of now and I don't like to feel pressured into wearing something that I won't like. I love designer clothes but I won't splash out cash on a bag which costs a stupidous amount of money.

5. College - What can I say? It's better than secondary school. Everyone is nice there compared to my old school. The lunch breaks are fairly good as I have two hour to two and a half hour breaks every week. The environment in the college is calm. I love it! No-one hassles you or bully you. Plus they are strict with attendance and homework. I admit to saying that being strict is better than being too laidback.

That's all

Queen Of The Mad Men DVD

1. I got A Night At The Opera today! Today! I'm listening to it right now. It's a Queen album. I'm expecting my Pink Floyd album, Atom Heart Mother next week.

2. I downloaded Freddie Mercury's solo album, Mr. Bad Guy. I am in love with the tracks especially 'Made In Heaven' and 'Mr. Bad Guy'. I'm disappointed that he didn't have more solo albums during the early years of Queen though.

3. I'm not watching the Mad Men DVD in order, but I realised that Pete Campbell is a complete prick. I hate him so much. Joan Holloway isn't too bad but I have a feeling that she envies Peggy... Don Draper? Handsome man. I was like 'not again' when I saw him with Midge. Betty should dump him... in season 3.

That's all
